Ahhhh! We didn't choose a blogger because Anthony wasn't here to read his blog.

We started in Shakespeare Companies reading the next few lines of ACT 3, scene 2. Yesterday, we read about Oberon learning that Titania fell in love with a monster (donkey) and Hermia thinking Demetrius killed Lysander. Then, Oberon sees Demetrius and realized Robin put the spell on the wrong guy so he puts the flower nectar on Demetrius who falls in love with Helena. Now both Lysander and Demetrius love Helena, but she thinks they're just messing with her.

I passes out grade sheets and students came up to have grades checked and turn in assignments. Then the ball rang and that was it!

She also said that if people are getting a fail that if they turn this in they might get a better grade then what they have now. Lalo still does not understand the book [wow i feel bad for him].                     Today in class, I was chosen to do the blog. Ms.Nakada explained about the book jackets and the book projects that are due on friday. Ms.Nakada also explained about the excerpts. After that the class got into their Shakespeare companies and had to read Act 3 Scene 1 which is the part where they are rehearsing for the play and Robin turns Bottom into a donkey head! Then Titania wakes up and falls in love with him. Ha! After a while some groups finished and started doing their excerpts. The bell rang and now were off to sixth period.

Today in Ms. Nakada's Class, we all came in and started writing the agenda like usual.
Kaid read his blog, & then picked me to blog next. So, here I am. Ms. Nakada went to the Young writers program website and asked the class what their user names were, so that she can add them.
Then she was explaining how many words were typing, & That the our novels are due the 2'nd of december, Coming back from Thanks giving break. She also told us about the "book jacket" due on december 13th, & that is worth 50 points. She also went over the Excerpts, and explained each one.
After Ms. Nakada was done talking to us, She asked us to leave our reading journals at the end of the table, and gave us the rest of the period to type our novels while she checked reading journals.

Today in Ms. Nakada's class Ms. Nakada started reading something that will help us with Nanowrimo. In the middle of her talking someone had their head on the desk so we had to stop. After that talk Ms. Nakada read us the rest of the Nanowrimo thing after that we had a little time to do our novel. Lalo is just sitting winking at people. It starts to get loud but not too much. Now we're talking about the jogathon. It's too loud so we quiet down to the sound of typing. Albert is say ah or oh some wired sound and Taaj is drumming on the desk. There's nothing much happening in the class this second so I'm stuck thinking of something. Now it's quiet so quiet that I can hear Taaj's breath.  Now Ms. Nakada is asking for our word counts which I do not know. I have to do that when i get home. Taaj is asking if people are writing now Ms. Nakada is now telling us how we're kicking sixth period in Nanowrimo
which ups how we feel. Now we are doing a mid summer nights dream by Shakespeare. Now wish there was something to right on here but all thats happening is were talking and now Radolfo passes me a note asking me how many word I have idk i would have to see now were seeing if we can talk in elisabethan but to me it looks hard its like reading croatian its not easy. Today when I walked in I noticed the homework which was blog nanowrimo and we need to be at 40 percent by Tuesday on the novel which is the day where I present this blog. Ms. Nakada asked everyone to start writing their novel first National Writing Month a.k.a NaNoWriMo. While everyone is writing their blog its very quiet it is sort of hard to talk about what is going on in class when nothing is going on but writing. Taaj and Albert are laughing about something and he just blurred out stop! I I'm glad that the AC because it was hotter than a slave ship in this classroom. I don't have I lot of time to write because we get out early. In class we all said our writing progress in class I need to write more so I can get ahead and so I can get done early. By the way I have the best blog in the whole school it is about a man who is struggling to take care of his daughter I got to go bye!

Hi this is my first blog I'm not sure what to talk about. I guess I'll write about happens in class so nakada is talking about some thing we have to create a account for not sure what it was now she is talking about word count on the ywp.nanowrimo.org site. She said something about free copies of our books or something. Someone said if there is gonna be internet when we write our novels -.- You don't need internet for microsoft word #tweeting in class :D 

Now we are going over our Shakespeare notes. She says we should know what the characters want, the setting and conflict. Now we're talking about marraige laws. Everybody is talking and yelling for for a computer and we're still talking about Shakespeare. Oh god, there is a test tomorrow about the book great prople are talking again just added the agenda now she is talking about what we need to know for the test tomorrow. I'm gonna ad a picture to my blog, everybody. I'm not gonna put my face. Everybody's already seen that. Because I'm pumped for the novel writing I'm going to put a pic of one of the main characters for my story. The internet here is so slow finally :D

There we go now back to blogging. Ms. Nakada is talking about writing partners. Wait, if it's your novel shouldn't it be done by yourself? [Yes, Tom. Your partner supports you.] Now we're talking about word count goals. 10k is the lowest that you can go so I say 15k I'm so going to fail. 15 mins left in class. Today in Ms. Nakadas class Ms. Nakada read Denisha's blog since she wasn't here. Then, I asked if I could do the blog and she said, "Sure." Now Ms. Nakada is doing Grammar Notes with the class and said she will choose someone to do the corrections. Karon said "kill em." Right now the class is working on their corrections. Now Ms. Nakada is doing the corrections since nobody wanted to write them.  After that Ms. Nakada told the class to write NaNoWriMo prep in the table of contents. She said, "If you could not talk that would be awesome." Danilo is late. Ms. Nakada is explaining how to do the model novel and said her book is on Amazon. She is giving examples of how to do the NaNoWriMo prep. Then she asked the class about format. Right now they are talking about books. Now she is telling the class to write  how their tense and format. The class is very happy because she said she is going to give us a pass to ask our teachers if we could come to her class just to let us work on our Novel. She is explaining how we could write our novels in different ways. Ms. Nakada didn't answer my question about how long the novel has to be! [10,000 words, Kobe.] Class is over.  GTG

In Ms. Nakada's class she had to read Rodolpho's blog because he wasn't here. He didn't write anything about class like Cristian. Ms. Nakada first made us take out a paper to write questions about Columbus Day. She made us answer what do we know about Christopher Columbus. After we answered the question she had us look at the book on our desk called the " History of the United States" on page 1. Next she had us answer the question of what did we learn about Columbus. After that, Ms. Nakada started to read, then Dedrick, and Cristian started to read like a weirdo. Ms. Nakada than gave us another question. Denisha started to hit Taaj with our project paper instead of doing her work. Ms. Nakada started to walk around to help other students. After we finished our questions we had to read 7-10 pages of the book. She than picked some students to read what they have wrote down for their answers. She had us read and then we had to answer some more questions. Than she asked us what we learned from reading. She started to read again and the bell was about to ring so I packed up and went to 6th period. Bye!

So first the class takes out their table of content , gets a little noisy for a bit so Ms. Nakada tries to get the class's attention.

So we start talking about Romance Lauganges that come from Latin and write down Latin roots. After that Ms. Nakada shows the class a website www.theyuniversity.net and at the time she looked annoyed because everyone get very loud.

While Ms. Nakada was reading examples from the website, there were giggles and talking. The website was about questions that kids have about grammar.

All randomly Christian calls my name showing me that he's giving Brandon a massage .

Ms. Nakada tells everyone to start working on their essay. I have to go work on my essay because I'm not done yet, so lates . (\^-^/)

The class is having a quite moment, because it got dark and Ms. Nakada said, "Just because a cloud moves in front of the sun does not mean that you have to make a lot of noise." Everyone was working on their essays and trying to finish it. We finally got 10 POINTS because we got perfect attendance. We are going to get pizza on Thursday. Some people were on the computer taking the star test. The bell rang and we all left to 6 period.

Some people were already on the computer correcting. Bryant was shouting at people walking past him. Brandon was arguing with Ms Nakada about magic or something. I don't know. Jorge was laugh about something. Sergio was sent to do something for Ms. Nakada. Ms. Nakada was helping people the rest of the period. The bell is about to ring and everyone is putting everything away and when the bell ring the class went to 6 period.

Then crazy Albert came over trying to make a basket. First, Kaid read his blog and the day has begun. Today in Ms. Nakada's class, Ms. Nakada hands us an Editor Submission form for our perfect paragraph. Also, in class, Christian found out that he got a F on his report card in five classes and Ms. Nakada is showing us how to work on our paragraphs in class. Right now my homie Albert is cleaning out his backpack and Taaj is daydreaming. Also, Ms. Nakada gave  us  the rest of the period to work on our pefect paragraphs. Today in class Ms. Nakada  started by explaining what an Alpha Smart is and how or what to do with it. At this time in class we are passing them out  people are grabbing their papers out if their

notebooks so they can get their drafts typed on the Alpha Smart. Some people are finishing their paper and most of the class is looking for highlighters . Now the class is quiet and are working. Ms. Nakada is showing the book v movie papers on the board. A few people are talking but not too loud that Ms. Nakada will get angry at them.  Brian is mad because he can't stop messing up and now he's boasting about how his work is perfect. Now Brian is  complaining about how his spell check does not work and it shut down his aplha smart. Now the class has  2 minutes before we have to leave and it gets loud as everyone packs up. Dedrick, Kobe and Brandon are clapping for so weird reason now people are putting the Alpha Smarts away. It's a bit of a hassel by Ms. Nakada's desk as people put away the AlphaSmarts and now it is time to go to 6th period. Bye.

So, finally I got picked. Sheldon and Lala were waiting for this moment for a long time. So, we are at the last part of the movie were Johnny dies and he also tells Ponyboy to stay gold. Will he? Also, Dally throws a fit and gets shot by the cops. So, after the movie we are talking about what is the same and the difference in the book and the movie. They cut out a lot in the movie it was not that detailed.

Now we are looking at our personal spelling list and adding grammar and sees, seas, See's and seize.  Next we are talking about quotes commas and italics.

Next week is Banned Book Week so apparently Captain under pants is not a good book to read because he runs around in his under pants. Who wants to do that?

In the movie Ponyboy and his two friends Dally and Johnny save some kids from a church fire.Later on in the movie there is a big rumble between greasers and socs and the greasers win. After that Dally and Ponyboy go to the hospital to tell Johnny that they won the rumble. That's where we ended.

Then we started writing some text questions,then thinking questions,then a you/world question,and finally a summary.Then everyone started to take out highlighters and a pencil to write another page of notes called "step up to writing". We started with three colors .Green means go yellow means slow down and red means stop.Then we started to write sentences about the out siders characters . First Ponyboy, then Sodapop, and Darry. While i was writing the blog i can hear brandon saying BIG BOY to me and the people around me.

 Ms. Nakada tells us how S.E. Hinton replied to her message on twitter. She tells us to get our books and she starts reading. We summarize chapter 7 of the outsiders and write more notes. we find out that Sandy is pregnant and she moved away to Florida and that Two bit has to babysit Ponyboy. After we were done taking notes about chapter 8, we learn that johnny doesn't want to die and that he's scared. Then Johnny's mom comes but he doesn't want to see her and gets upset and passes out . After reading and taking notes on chapter 8 we go back to our table of contents and write grammar notes. We take notes about what nouns to capitalize (proper nouns). Well, idk what to write and class is over.

Today the first thing that happened was Rodolfo got candy for comment of the week. After that Ms. Nakada told everyone to take out their writing process and telling us about what we could write. She is explaining the steps of the writing process and explaining what the steps mean. Now she is telling the class to take out The Outsiders notes on page 4. Right now we are talking about what had happened in The Outsiders chapter 7. Ms. Nakada just told the class if they don't have their books' out they need to take them out right now. She is reading a part of the book right with the class. Now she is writing more on the notes and asking some questions about what she just read.  She just announced that we will read more of the chapter on monday and is telling everyone to take out their writing journals to check who did there homework or not , and those who were not here yesterday can read more or they can work on their writing process. Ms. Nakada is checking the homework. As I read this sentence I have nothing to say because there is nothing interesting that is going on at the moment... Ms. Nakada said that if we do not turn in our homework in time we will not get full credit and if we need to reread then we should. I'm going to wrap this up because this blog is long and class is almost over.

Today in Ms. Nakada's class we all came in and wrote down the homework.
Then, Ms. Nakada asked us to take out our reading journals to see and divide our English scores and see what grade we have so far. Some people had trouble & others were glad about their grade.  She also returned our "Who you are" projects. She also gave the class folders to put our papers. Cristian  kept tellling Ms. Nakada that  he was her "favorite teacher." After  Ms. Nakada collected the folders and told the class that if they wanted to re-do anything they could. Next, Ms. Nakada asked the class to take out their notes from "The Outsiders".  Now, Ms. Nakada and the class discuss the story and how Johnny decides to turn him self in. We write it down in their notes which I will be doing tomorrow. Today I got lucky because today is a early day , which means I have less time to write. Now class is over :)

Right now Ms. Nakada told us to write on our table of contents "The Outsiders Notes Ch.5-8" We wrote notes for Chapter 5 and now we're taking out our books and turning to page 76. Ms. Nakada is reading out loud to us now. We're talking about what the qoute "Nothing Gold Can Stay" means. Ms. Nakada is checking our reading journals right now. She is giving us the rest of the period to finish our "Who are You?" Project. Cristian just came right now and read my blog. The class was getting loud so Ms. Nakada told us to be quiet. We have 15 mintues to finish our "Who are You?" project. Then, Brandon  came to read my Blog and started saying "Big Boi". We have 5 mintes now to finish our "Who are you?" In the beginning of class Ms. Nakada told everyone to take their reading journal. Almost all of the class  got it done. Lucky me, she didn't have to check my homework. Afterwards Ms. Nakada started to discuss it with the class. Then Ms. Nakada told everyone to take out their notes  and than she started reading the book. The class started taking notes too. So then she asked us to take out the book, The Outsiders. Chapter 4 of The Outsiders was a good part of the book, well to me, beause Johnny killed one of the socs because one of the socs was trying to drown Ponyboy. After Ms. Nakada stops reading she asked the class what was chapter 4 about so they start taking notes about chapter. After they finished with that they went on to the table of contents. Stil, lucky me, I didn't have to work. Then Ms.Nakada went to help one of the students and it took her like 5 mintues for her to get back to the class. She made everyone take out a paper and made them write them about themselves. Still, lucky me, I didn't have to do the work.

Today in Ms.Nakada's class we did many different things. We were talking about The Outsiders by SE Hinton, and how the end the 3rd chapter is really intresting. We are also working on The Outsiders notes. While I was doing this blog Taaj kept on saying Turn Up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad today is Tuesday because my 6th period is boring and we have a shorter time period! Ms. Nakada is reading to the class. She is a really good reader! In chapter 3 the boys walk the girls to Two-Bit's house to pick up his car and while they were one their way Pony Boy and Cherry talk about Sodapop's horse Mickey Mouse! Mickey Mouse was Soda Pop's bestfriend but one day Mickey Mouse was sold away! On the way towards the house a Two Bit a blue Mustang passes by and don't notice that Cherry and Marcia were with greasers! Then the Blue Mustang comes back and then notices Cherry and Marcia so the blue Mustang pulls over and there were 5 socs in the blue Mustang! So the Socs are talking to the girls.
Then the Socs are talking mess about the greasers so then Two-Bit gives PonyBoy a cracked bottle and Two-Bit takes out his switch-blade but Cherry demands Two Bit to not fight the Socs! I'm not DONE!!! But class is.

Today Ms. Nakada told us to take out the paper: "what good readers do" and she said to read and make sure you wanna read these books and to not wonder off in space. Then, Ms. Nakada was saying if we took a test on this what would be the question and someone said "what do good readers do" and then, she said  how do we know if we understand and he said if we know what is going on in the text and she said yeah. Then, she said we was going to think about thinking questions and this girl said how this book connet with the us and then she said how any of you  abanded books and a lot of people raised thier hand and she said when do we abandon a book and people said when it gets boring and she ask if we abanded the book "The Outsiders"  that we'll  get a low grade in her class. She said the last question was you/world and she said what do strong readers become and people said authers, mail man, and lawyers. Then, she put on the paper how will you implement your reading plans and she gave examples of herself like how every Sunday she reads a book. Then she asked where do we read and people said in their room and other things and she said we should read out loud so you can really understand the book. Then, she wrote the summary: we learned how good readers do and how we can become better readers.

Everyone turned to their table of contents and wrote The Outsiders notes and turned to the page after what do good readers do page and write The Outsiders notes. We wrote what happened in chapter 1 and she wrote "Ponyboy gets jumped, and the gang comes and rescuse him and she is talking about the ousiders and what happen in each chapter. They are describing the characters and now she is reading the book "Th Outsiders" chapter 2 and everyone is listening to her read and then the bell rings and the whole class leaves and go on to 6 period.

   Today the class walked in and everyone was loud and turned up from lunch. Ms. Nakada asked the class to to take out the homework that we had from last night. Then Ms. Nakada told the class to take out the class work that we did which was What Good Readers Do. Now the class is writing down the six books that we will read during the school year. Ms. Nakada tells us the books that she read about and know Brandon and Albert want to read them. Everybody in the class starts talking and Brandon and Albert start talking about how their sixth period is boring. Brandon asked where to get Thirteen Reason's Why So Ms. Nakada tells us about a website to get books (amazon.com). Ms. Nakada checked homework and the whole class did there homework so we got a point for that. We talked about the book and how some people didn't understand what they were reading. Then the bell rang and the class was over.

What do good readers do?

Today we first wrote down our homework and Ms.Nakada walked all over the classroom so see if everyone did there summary of "The Outsiders". Then some of the students read outloud some of there summaries. After, we described some of the characters in the book. Ms.Nakada then told us what we do for tonights homework. After that she had to choose a blogger for our class website. Finally we have started to answer the question in today's agenda "What do good readers do?" So, what do good readers do?

Reading Journal 

HW: RJ 1.1 T.O. p. 1-18

It's the second day of school and my fifth period class came in after lunch. Everyone found their assigned seats and started writing down the agenda. We named our class blog which was a quick and painless process thanks to Dedrick's idea :). A couple of students passed out The Outsiders books and I took attendance and recorded book numbers. I collected  course outlines and ALMOST everyone turned theirs in, but one was missing so the class didn't earn a point, but I explained how if the class earns 10 points for perfection we get a reward like doughnuts or pizza.

Once all of that was done we set up our reading journals like this:

The A/C stands for abandoned or completed. Then we started reading The Outsiders as a class and set up the actual reading journals like this:

We learned the narrator is a greaser and he lives with his two brothers because his parents died. He's walking home from the theatre when a bunch of Socs surround him. We discussed the homework for tonight: to write a summary of the rest of the chapter. That was all for the day!
